Meet David.

Former White House digital strategist. Former Motion Picture Association digital lead. Founder of Aluta Strategies.

David Hudson is the founder and CEO of Aluta Strategies, a digital strategy firm built to help leaders and institutions communicate with more clarity, consistency, and impact.

He brings nearly 15 years of high-level experience in digital strategy — from serving as the associate director of content at the White House and helping the Obama Administration find new and engaging ways to communicate with Americans across the country, to leading the Motion Picture Association’s digital operation and advancing the policy priorities of the world’s foremost film studios.

Before launching Aluta, David also crafted and executed digital strategies for a wide range of businesses, organizations, and institutions, including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture, Gilead Sciences, and others.

How he works

David brings a strategy-first approach, helping clients understand who they need to reach, what they need to say, where they need to show up, and how digital activity should connect to larger goals.

His work sits at the intersection of strategy, storytelling, content systems, and performance. Whether advising a leader, building a campaign, or strengthening an organization’s digital infrastructure, David focuses on making digital work clearer, smarter, and more effective.

Beyond the work

David is a staunch believer in the importance of quality journalism. He serves on the board of States Newsroom, a national network of state-focused news outlets providing expert reporting on state government, policy, and politics, and on the advisory committee of the National Press Foundation, which trains and supports journalists navigating the increasingly complex news and media landscape.

Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, David is a proud graduate of the University of Virginia, holding bachelor’s degrees in both English and African American & African Studies. He now lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two sons — and when he’s not working, you’ll probably find him looking for a new and interesting documentary to watch, cheering his older son on at soccer practice, or getting in a quick Peloton ride.
